Craft Beer Spotlight - Our May craft beer arrivals!

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

We talk a lot about wine over here at City Cellars, so it’s time to shine a light on our other favourite beverage — beer! In this monthly feature, we highlight some of the latest and greatest craft beer arrivals to quench your thirst and introduce you to some of the amazing breweries Alberta and Canada have to offer.

Collective Arts Berry, Banana, Açai & Granola Smoothie Sour

Slushie and smoothie sours are taking the beer world by storm. And we can see why — it reminds me a lot of my summer, youthful days of biking over to Mac’s for a Froster, but a grown up version. And smoothie sours might even feel like they’re good for you (they’re not). The Collective Arts Smoothie Sour could be mistaken for a healthy breakfast dish. Made with the good stuff — berries, banana, granola and milk sugar, all heightened with bright acidity — we don’t judge how you get your vitamins.

Best of Kin Brewing Mom Perm Sauvignon Blanc NEPA

Calgary’s Best of Kin Brewing was started to make the best beer they could to share with our loved ones while honouring the ones we’ve lost. Mom Perm is their latest seasonal, a New England style pale ale with low bitterness and a crisp finish. This vibrant golden beer has notes of white wine, gooseberry and stone fruit. To burst the hop flavour and big aroma, Sauvignon Blanc grape juice was added mid-fermentation, why? Wine not?! Best enjoyed in a wine glass while wearing your mom jeans and soaking up the sun.

Babe Tangerine Dream Lager

Your weekend mimosa in beer form. From the Babe division of Albeerta Provisions, this is a crushable, tangerine fruit bomb mixed with the easy drinking of a lager. Crush this fruited lager on your deck or patio all summer long.

Fallentimber Meadery SEADÓG Mead Radler

Beer less your thing? This mead radler is perfect for summer days and utterly crushable at just 3.5% ABV. Full of flavour, but low in alcohol and calories and naturally gluten free. The SEADÓG combines honey with grapefruit, lemons and oranges for a fresh, light and fruity drink.

Uncommon Hopped Cider

Combine the fruitiness of cider with the hoppiness of beer and you get...pure happiness. This apple cider is double dry-hopped with Citra & Mosaic. It has a large tropical fruit aroma, having notes of lychee, passion fruit, papaya and apple skin. On the palate, you get a balanced juicy apple acidity and clean finish. Perfect if you’re a beer lover wanting to take the leap into cider!
